Tip for Using Behavior Report Cards Effectively:
When a substitute teacher is assigned to cover your class, create a special 'Class Behavior Report Card' with rating items such as 'The class followed teacher requests guickly and willingly' and 'The class spoke to the teacher in a respectful manner.' Let the class know in advance that their behavior will be rated by the substitute. Tell the class that they will earn an incentive or prize if the substitute gives them a high rating on the Class Behavior Report Card but that there will also be appropriate consequences (e.g., loss of class privileges) if the substitute should assign low ratings for the group's behavior.
